One mans free speech is anothers hate crime perhaps? It is tricky topic- who decides what is morally and socially acceptable or not. But sometimes free speech is used as an argument to defend some terrible things (depending on perpsective). Personally, I try to avoid arguments of relativism and subjectivity- there ARE some universal norms that should be upheld and defended. Otherwise freedom of speech/expression can be used simply to justify bigotry and violence.

In response to:'Freedom of speech' versus 'respect'?

Yo Hinkster!<br>

I'm in a quandry though being brought up as a Catholic I find the Bonfire society processions a little tasteless especially in these PC days, where they normally parade an effergy of the current pope and burn it on one of the many bonfires. The kids however only see it as a bonfire night not a political/religious statement. This year it happens to be to 500th aniversary of Guy Fawkes which means Lewes is going all out to beat previous years. But of course I wont be there.

In response to:Fart gas on buses

Enjoy your celebrations, but don't scare too many moggies with your fireworks :)

In response to:Stroking other peoples cats.....

I think it may be Freaky Helly again, yes... :(

In response to:Stroking other peoples cats.....

That was me being smutty.

In response to:First entry

I too ran from lj.
